Dentistry costs in the modern age

Dentistry costs vary hugely depending on the individual case and where in the UK are going as London dentists are likely to be a bit more expensive but their treatment is top quality; the nature of the treatment, the clinic you choose and the dentist that you choose can all have a significant influence on the price you pay for treatment. NHS costs are considerably lower than private costs; however many treatments are not available on the NHS as they are not considered as essential treatments. Cosmetic treatments, for example, are used only to enhance the aesthetic appeal of a person’s smile, rather than treating a medical condition and they must be paid for privately.

Currently, the NHS has a banding system in terms of treatment dental job costs when it comes to things like root canals; prices are set at a certain rate depending on the complexity of the treatment. Band 1 treatments, including routine check-ups, X-rays and scaling and polishing currently cost £16.50, while band 2 treatments, including root canal treatment and fillings cost £45.60 and band 3 treatments including crowns, dentures and dental bridges cost £198.

The costs of cosmetic dentistry vary hugely depending on which treatment or treatments you are having; as a rough guide, orthodontic treatments usually range from around £2,000 to £6,000, while veneers usually cost around £300 per veneer and dental implants cost anywhere between £800 and £3,000 per implant; a complete smile makeover, which involves a series of different cosmetic treatments, could cost up to £40,000.
